Job summary

Barrett Distribution Centers is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor in Memphis to oversee daily warehouse operations, ensure safety, accuracy, and productivity in assigned accounts.

You will lead a team, coordinate scheduling, monitor performance, and drive process improvements while maintaining compliance with SOPs and quality standards. This role reports to the Assistant Operations Manager and works 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, safety, and SOPs.
• Experience in 3PL, supply chain, and transportation beneficial.
• Proficient with WMS and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent English communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily warehouse operations and supervise the team, including scheduling and attendance management.
• Ensure safety, sanitation, productivity, and quality across assigned areas.
• Train staff on SOPs and conduct method observations per company standards.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with other supervisors to balance labor and ensure efficient shifts using LEAPS tools.
• Complete all required documentation and system transactions accurately and on time.
• Communicate effectively with facility management about issues and customer concerns.

Job description

The Position:

The Warehouse Supervisor, reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager, will manage and oversee the warehouse activities of their assigned area(s)/account(s), ensure efficient processes, and maximize warehouse productivity. The Supervisor will plan, organize, supervise and participate in daily warehouse operation and activities.

This position works 8:00am- 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.

The compensation range for this position starts at $65K/year, depending on experience.

How You'll Make an Impact:

• Responsible for adhering to and meeting daily department goals in safety, sanitation, productivity, and quality across all assigned area(s)/account(s).
• Provides supervision and direction to the team for day-to-day workflow, including associate and temporary staff scheduling, time, and attendance management.
• Makes staffing recommendations, interviews applicants, assesses training needs, counsels employees, recommends corrective or disciplinary action when appropriate, and documents employee performance.
• Ensures associates are properly trained on all standard operating procedures; conducts and documents method observations per company standards.
• Partners with other supervisors to balance labor, provide cross-coverage as business needs dictate, and ensure efficient shift operations utilizing LEAPS tools.
• Ensures all required documentation and system transactions (electronic and/or manual) for assigned area(s)/account(s) are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintains physical inventory accuracy at defined company standards; proactively identifies and leads continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assesses warehouse operations continuously to ensure the facility remains neat, secure, safe, and well-organized; articulates customer concerns and operational issues to facility management in a timely manner.
• Actively leads start-up meetings, effectively communicates daily goals, building and company-wide information, GGOB updates, and sets the energy level and tone of the day.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED required; Some college experience preferred.
• Powered industrial equipment experience preferred.
• 1-3 years of previous supervisory experience required (preferably in a warehouse or distribution center environment).
• Experience must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of warehouse operations and policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of 3PL, Supply Chain, and Transportation, WMS system preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft business applications such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and warehouse management systems preferred.
• Experience must demonstrate the ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines. Strong emphasis on organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English (Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred).
• Must be able to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Experience must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and the ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
