Job description

Our Client, an Automotive company, is looking for a Warehouse Supervisor for their Lansing, MI location.

Responsibilities:

1. The main function of a warehouse supervisor is to oversee warehouse employees to meet business objectives in safety, quality, productivity, responsiveness, and other key areas.
2. Counsel and support hourly employees with their needs and concerns.
3. Address performance issues by recognizing positives and addressing negatives.
4. Utilize the Quality Network problem-solving process to identify opportunities and engage the workforce for solutions.
5. Apply Workplace Organization (WPO) principles to improve layouts and efficiency.
6. Perform daily updates in the Timekeeping System (TKS) to ensure accurate payroll processing.
7. Use A-3 reporting format to document problem-solving activities following local guidelines.
8. Conduct daily meetings to communicate business performance and facilitate two-way communication with employees.
9. Perform and document weekly safety observation tours of departments.
10. Plan daily workloads in advance.
11. Support colleagues to optimize shift performance.
12. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements (both national and local).
13. Enforce shop rules.
14. Perform daily SOP audits.
15. Develop skills through the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process.
16. Keep the General Supervisor Shop Committee informed of pending activities.

Requirements:

1. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
2. Basic math skills.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. Understanding of basic technology relevant to the assigned area.
5. Knowledge of scheduling and management systems.
6. High level of analytical ability for complex problems.
7. Strong interpersonal skills to motivate and work effectively with others.
8. Knowledge of quality control procedures.
9. High school diploma with 1-2 years of technical or business training.
10. Training in skilled trades or equivalent technical training.
11. 5-7 years of relevant experience.
12. Four-year degree preferred but not required.
13. Minimum of 2 years of experience.
14. Basic knowledge of Excel.
15. Leadership skills; military experience and managerial courage are a plus.
16. Union leadership experience is desirable.
