Warehouse Supervisor (Full-Time)
Job Summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees the receiving, inspection, storage, staging, and issuing of job-related material at MICA Corporation's warehouse and yard. This position records the time, date, quantity, source, and destination of material received and issued; verifies incoming deliveries against purchase orders and packing lists; and ensures material is documented, staged, and delivered to field crews and job sites accurately and on schedule. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of warehouse and yard personnel (leads, clerks, and warehouse helpers), inside storage and the outside yard, and coordinates closely with Purchasing, Project Managers, and field Superintendents to keep material moving to active jobs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Assigned warehouse and yard personnel (leads, clerks, and warehouse helpers).
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise employees engaged in receiving, verifying, documenting, staging, and issuing incoming and outgoing material.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing material activity to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments and deliveries.
  • Verify received material against purchase orders and packing lists; oversee inspection of goods received and report damaged, defective, or short/over shipments and discrepancies to Purchasing.
  • Coordinate the staging and issuing of job-related material and the timely delivery of material to field crews and job sites.
  • Ensure delivery tickets, proof-of-delivery (POD) documentation, and material transfers are completed and routed to Accounts Payable and the appropriate system in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Maintain various files and records - both computerized and hard-copy - including inventory, receiving, and issue records.
  • Complete weekly time approvals for warehouse and yard personnel and submit to management.
  • Interview department candidates; provide initial and ongoing training and evaluation related to job duties and performance expectations.
  • Address employee-relations matters, such as work complaints or concerns; create and administer written warnings and submit to management.
  • Supervise employees who count, weigh, and identify material in the warehouse and yard.
  • Inspect forklifts and other material-handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel for repair.
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing Manager, Project Managers, Superintendents, and other personnel to attain material availability, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Control labor utilization - preventing excess hours, downtime, and overtime - and ensure efficient use of yard equipment and delivery vehicles.
  • Study purchase orders, packing lists, delivery tickets, and job material requirements to determine priorities, work assignments, and delivery methods needed to meet job schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DOT and transportation regulations for company deliveries where applicable (driver logs, equipment condition, and reporting).
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure material is properly secured and staged for each job.
  • Enforce all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of equipment; support MICA's 1-2-3 safety culture - take care of yourself, take care of your tools, and take care of your work - and keep the warehouse and yard clean and organized.
  • Perform miscellaneous job functions to assist with administration and field operations, as needed.

Required skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office {Excel, Word, and Outlook} including editing documents, sending and receiving emails, and participating in virtual meetings.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel including the ability to operate spreadsheets.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to safely operate a forklift (forklift certification required or the ability to become certified).
  • Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history, drug screen, physical, audiogram, and vision test. (HR to confirm whether a DOT physical is required for this position.)
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years' experience in warehouse, materials, or shipping/receiving operations, including a leadership or lead role.
  • Experience with an inventory, purchasing, or ERP/accounting system preferred.
  • Experience coordinating deliveries, drivers, and material transfers to job sites.
Physical Requirements:
  • This job operates in a warehouse and outdoor yard position; work is performed both inside and outdoors in a variety of seasonal weather conditions.
  • Exposure to shop and yard elements such as noise, dust, odors, and equipment traffic.
  • Personal protective equipment is required at all times (i.e., steel-toe shoes, hard hat, high-visibility apparel, and eye protection).
  • Local travel between the warehouse, yard, and job sites may be required.
  • In an eight (8) hour work day, this position is expected to sit approximately up to 3-4 hours, stand up to 6 hours, and walk up to 6 hours. Lifting and carrying is generally up to 50 pounds.
Continuing Education Requirements:

Employees are expected to participate in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by their immediate supervisor. In addition, employees are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities. Employees must attend mandatory education programs. During new-hire orientation, all new hires will be provided with New Hire Orientation (NEO) training, which includes human resources information and safety training. The safety training component will be an annual requirement for all employees to participate in, review, and pass the required safety exams.
