Job Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse. This includes managing inventory, supervising staff, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse environment. The Warehouse Supervisor will play a key role in coordinating logistics, ensuring timely delivery of products, and optimizing warehouse processes for productivity and cost-efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Staff Supervision : Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate warehouse staff to ensure efficient operations. Supervise and schedule staff and provide coverage at all locations, which involves travel and related flexibility for start and end times.
- Inventory Management : Oversee inventory control, including receiving, storing, and distributing products.
- Order Fulfillment : Ensure the accurate picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders in a timely manner.
- Safety and Compliance : Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety regulations, ensuring employees wear proper protective gear, and conducting regular safety audits.
- Quality Control : Inspect goods and inventory to ensure items are in good condition and meet quality standards.
- Operational Efficiency : Monitor warehouse operations to identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction. Implement best practices for inventory management and workflow optimization.
- Equipment and Maintenance : Report any maintenance issues of warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks to the Fleet Manager and Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment.
- Reporting : Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory levels, and staff performance. Provide regular reports to the Supply Chain Manager.
- Team Collaboration : Work with other departments such as procurement, shipping, and customer service to ensure smooth operations.
- Troubleshooting : Address and resolve any issues related to inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or operational challenges.
Required Skills / Abilities
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and other logistics software.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Forklift certification (preferred but not required).
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift for long periods.
- The work environment is primarily in a warehouse setting with varying temperatures and potential for exposure to loud noise or heavy equipment.
- Some exposure to all elements, i.e. rain, outside work environments.
- Required to travel to all regional warehouses, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
