Job summary

State Steel Supply Co. is hiring Warehouse Specialists to load and unload steel from trucks and store it in our service warehouse inventory locations. You will ensure every piece is accounted for and in the right place to deliver the right materials to customers on time.

This role emphasizes safety through following all policies and best practices, with first shift hours and a pay rate starting at $19.00 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits and time off as described in the job posting.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Basic math skills required.
• Basic reading and writing ability for instructions and hand tools.
• Basic computer skills required.

• Load and unload material (steel) from trucks and place in service warehouse locations.
• Ensure inventory locations are accurate so customers receive the right materials on time.

Job description

Warehouse Specialists load and unload material (steel) from trucks and store it in our service warehouse inventory locations using overhead cranes. By making sure every piece of steel is accounted for and in the right place, this position ensures that our customers get the right materials at the right time. This position helps the company create a culture of safety by following all safety policies and safe work practices.

What can you expect from the job?

• 1st shift – 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday
• Exposure to the summer heat
• Moderately stressful and changing work environment
• Long periods walking and standing – up to 8 hours a day
• Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of material up to 60 lbs.

What are the requirements?

• Valid driver’s license
• 18+ years old
• Basic math skills
• Basic literacy for reading instructions and using hand tools
• Basic computer skills

Pay and Benefits

• Starting pay of $19.00 an hour
• 401k retirement contribution matching
• Company covers about 80% of the cost of medical insurance for you and your family
• Company covers 100% of the cost for a life-insurance policy
• Company covers 100% of the cost for both short and long-term disability insurance policies
• Paid personal time available for use as it accrues (max of one week per year)
• One week of paid vacation after 6 months
