Hours:

• First Shift | Monday – Friday | 8am – 4pm

Wage:

• Starting wages range from $23 - $27/hour (Based on experience)

Major Job Function:

• The Shipping Clerk (Warehouse Lead) is responsible for directing warehousing, traffic management, and material handling and shipping activities.
• Lead warehouse activities by implementing operational procedures such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current. Assign daily duties, establish priorities, move freight, load and unload trucks, keep the warehouse area clean and organized, complete GMP duties. Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing. Oversee work and training of warehouse employees and drivers by evaluating performance, advising, and providing information.
• Negotiate rates with logistics companies for over-the-road hauling. Meet with sales personnel from carriers. Compare rates using the internet, computer, and spreadsheets. Determine the most beneficial course of action.
• Load, unload, and handle hazardous materials by use of a counterbalance forklift. Sign waste manifests. Verify waste manifests are filled out accurately by the waste hauler.
• Direct the salvage of damaged or used material by following instructions and inspecting materials.
• Follow all applicable instructions relative to food safety and the SQF Food Safety Management System, including Employee GMP’s.
• Report food safety problems to personnel with the authority to initiate actions.
• Perform special projects as assigned to assist in the success of ProAmpac - Hartford LG&S Division’s objectives, for example, participate in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities and inspect the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment. Prepare work orders for repairs and requisitions for the replacement of equipment.

Qualifications | Experience

• 18 years of age or older
• Previous experience operating a forklift
• 5+ Years Warehouse or Shipping Experience with increased responsibility
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and protects the privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
• Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
• Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
• Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
