Summary

This position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture by applying continuous improvement methods to support operations. The Engineer will identify and drive change through data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify and eliminate root causes. The Engineer will collaborate with employees at all levels and reports to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Sr. CI Manager, closely aligned with Operations Management.

Essential Functions

• Collect data, perform statistical analysis, map and document processes, identify process gaps, and implement improvements. Develop and manage continuous improvement plans to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
• Manage CI and engineering projects to improve business results, support certifications, and identify automation opportunities. Interact regularly with operations management and customers.
• Develop competency in engineering methods, lean tools, and quality standards. Coach employees in CI, QA, and lean principles. Apply methods like product slotting, labor standards, layouts, data analysis, and resource modeling to optimize operations.
• Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, guiding process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
• Provide regular data reports, measure progress, and make supply chain strategy recommendations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor QMS based on standards.
• Implement corrective actions and support regulatory compliance.
• Perform QA functions for start-ups or expansions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Business, Supply Chain) with 5+ years or Master’s degree with 3+ years in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing. MBA candidates should have an undergraduate in Engineering.
• Expertise in MS Office, intermediate skills in data visualization and database programming preferred.
• Experience with lean systems, engineering analysis, warehouse design tools, and automation solutions preferred.
• Certifications like Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ISO/QMS are a plus.
