Warehouse Senior Industrial Engineer - Ryder Last Mile (remote)

Job Summary

This position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture by applying continuous improvement methods to enhance operations. The Engineer will identify and implement data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify root causes and eliminate inefficiencies. It reports to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Sr. CI Manager, and collaborates with operations management at all levels.

Essential Functions

1. Collect and analyze data; map and document processes; identify gaps; recommend and implement improvements; develop and execute continuous improvement plans to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
2. Manage CI and engineering projects to improve business results; support certifications and automation projects; interact with management and customers.
3. Develop skills in engineering methods, lean tools, and quality standards; coach employees in CI, QA, and lean principles; apply methodologies like product slotting, labor standards, layouts, data analysis, and resource modeling.
4. Facilitate and execute value stream mapping and Kaizen events; coach process owners in lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
5. Provide regular data reports to track progress; make inventory and supply chain strategy recommendations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Design and monitor Quality Management System (QMS); implement corrective actions; support regulatory compliance; perform QA functions for start-ups or expansions; perform other duties as assigned.

• Understanding of warehouse operations, automation solutions, and transportation design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of related experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; MBA candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Engineering.
• Expertise in MS Office; intermediate skills in data visualization and database programming.
• Experience with lean tools, engineering analysis, warehouse design, and automation preferred.
• Certifications like Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ISO/QMS are a plus.
