The Piece Pickers work with minimal supervision as part of a team to process bagged, cased, and unitized products for delivery to customers. They move, transport, and load products onto rolling carts and pallets. Certified Piece Pickers may use manual and electric pallet jacks for order selection and truck loading. Certain functions require certified operators to use lift truck equipment.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
All Piece Pickers --
- Push, pull, and steer rolling carts throughout the warehouse for order selection and loading.
- Operate manual pallet jacks to move palletized products within the warehouse and into trucks.
- Operate electric “walkie” pallet jacks for similar tasks.
- Operate electric “riding” pallet jacks, including mounting and dismounting equipment to pick and load products, requiring twisting and continuous attention to direction.
- Pick products onto pallets, involving reaching, pulling, twisting, bending, crouching, and lifting.
- Operate lift trucks throughout the day.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, reporting defects or repairs.
- Transport materials between areas using controls to operate lifting devices such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Apply stretch-wrap to secure loads for transport.
- Load and unload materials onto pallets, skids, or platforms.
- Maintain reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
- Follow safety and security standards in all duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Qualifications
Piece Picker: Pallet Jack Qualified
Piece Picker: Lift Truck Qualified
- Unload products from inbound carriers manually and with equipment.
- Verify received products for correct identification and count.
- Use scanning devices and computers as needed.
- Inspect condition of received products.
- Safely move and store products in proper locations.
Stager/Order Picker
- Read and receive order instructions for pre-loading.
- Pick and stage products accurately, following stacking guidelines.
- Load trucks following proper loading practices, arranging products within the trailer’s cube.
- Use scanning devices and computers as needed.
- Check for shortages, over-counts, and incorrect item codes or lot numbers; correct as needed.
Truck Loader
- Inspect trailers before loading.
- Count units and compare with shipping documents.
- Move products into trailers, arranging them properly for secure travel.
Qualifications

Skills & Abilities
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years in a warehouse environment.
Computer Skills: Basic familiarity with scanner technology.
