Warehouse Operations Manager
Overview
- Manage a party rental warehouse and develop warehouse operations systems.
- Create smooth processes from office to warehouse.
- Determine product handling and storage requirements; develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures; refine processes for receiving products, picking, packing, routing, returning, equipment utilization, inventory management, and trucking; provide ongoing education for warehouse staff.
Warehouse
General
- Recruit, select, train, schedule, and coach warehouse employees. Communicate job expectations; conduct employee reviews; enforce policies and procedures.
- Maintain a positive working environment emphasizing communication.
- Maintain authority on the floor and set daily work expectations.
- Participate in creating strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends.
- Develop warehouse layout, product flow, and handling systems; evaluate and recommend new equipment and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; comply with legal regulations.
Specific
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing software; evaluate new software options.
- Determine warehouse workflow based on workload; schedule labor accordingly.
- Update Job/Labor board daily.
- Oversee department tasks including returns, unpacking, cleaning, restocking, picking, prepping, and truck packing; ensure accuracy.
- Assign driver and labor tasks for end-of-day.
- Manage ongoing inventory projects.
- Assess and refine workflow from Account Manager communication to final re-stocking.
- Facilitate equipment maintenance (dishwasher, washing machines, dryers, press).
- Manage vehicle fleet operations, including registration, DOT inspections, preventative and as-needed maintenance.
- Be on-call as required.
- Order supplies as needed.
Routing
Support general business operations by managing routing, sequencing, driver resources, and delivering excellent customer service while controlling operational expenses. Interface with management, customer service, delivery team, and clients. Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
- Coordinate deliveries, returns, reruns; assign/reassign drivers and helpers.
- Oversee dispatch operations.
- Communicate with operations, account managers, and transportation staff.
- Ensure timely handling of vehicle repair and maintenance calls.
- Develop routes to minimize costs and meet delivery windows.
- Solve delivery/pickup issues, including product shortages.
- Maintain and evaluate daily logs for errors or violations of DOT or company requirements.
- Reconcile projected versus actual route data.
- Understand specifics related to dance floor, platform, kitchen equipment setup, and propane certification.
- Adhere to DOT regulations.
- Prepare delivery and pickup invoices and documents.
Dispatch
- Dispatch drivers and helpers.
- Supervise drivers en route.
- Assist with route schedules, delivery issues, and logistics across multiple states.
- Monitor routing software; communicate with drivers for difficulties; reassign routes as needed.
- Communicate effectively via telephone/radio with coworkers and clients.
- Adjust delivery sequences and departure times based on conditions.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Previous experience in events, catering, rentals, or warehouse logistics preferred.
