Job summary

AMI Metals, Inc. is seeking a warehouse/packing associate to prepare customer orders for shipping and assist with production. You will build skids, packing boxes, and use basic tools while adhering to quality standards.

The role requires reading comprehension, basic math, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with forklift certification preferred and eligibility to work irregular hours. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting our operations in NJ.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Reading and comprehension of simple instructions, memos.
• Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Physical demands: able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Ability to work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders for shipping and assist with production.
• Build skids or boxes for packing and shipping of all orders.
• Operate basic packing tools and equipment.
• Perform quality inspections to maintain standards.
• Label and stencil shipping information as required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow safety policies.
• Help ensure timely and accurate order processing.

Job Function

Prepares customer orders for shipping and helping with production by performing the following essential duties.

Essential Duties

• Builds skids or boxes for packing and shipping of all orders.
• Uses crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding equipment as needed.
• Follows AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.
• Performs quality inspections on orders to maintain 100% quality standards.
• Marks all shipments in accordance with customer and AMI procedures and requirements.
• Properly stencils shipping information as required.
• Provides maintenance and keeps records of all equipment assigned.
• Maintains clean work area.
• Follows all company safety and quality policies and procedures.
• Participates in TQM and SPC meetings.
• May require lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

Required Skills

• EDUCATION:High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• REASONING ABILITY:Carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• CERTIFICATES:Forklift Certification, Preferred.
• OTHER ABILITIES:Ability to work irregular hours.
