Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC in Kenner, LA is seeking a hands-on Shop Supervisor to plan, organize, staff, direct and control warehouse activities to meet company profit and expense goals. You will supervise receiving, forklift operations, inventory counts, shipping, tool maintenance, and inspections, while maintaining safe, organized shop processes and strong customer relations.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2–3 years of managerial experience, and some vocational training;

Qualifications

• Vocational training strongly desired.
• 2–3 years’ experience managing a team or equivalent education/experience combination.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, staff, direct and control shop activities.
• Receive freight, operate a forklift, and stock the warehouse.
• Perform inventory counts and maintain stock levels.
• Check in orders and stock all inventory items.
• Maintain shipping supplies and perform shipping tasks.
• Keep shop organized and clean; maintain tools.
• Record inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations.
• Train and supervise subordinates in job level requirements.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling the shop activities and inventory. The express purpose of this position will be to supervise and take part in the shop in such manner to meet the profit and expense goals of Company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• General warehouse operations.
• Receiving freight, operating a forklift, and stocking the warehouse.
• Perform all inventory counts and maintain inventory stock levels.
• Check in orders and stock all inventory items.
• Maintain adequate shipping supplies.
• Perform all shipping.
• Keep shop organized and clean.
• Maintain, clean, and organize all shop tools.
• Check specialty tools in and out.
• Maintaining extinguishers and system cylinders in various locations in shop.
• Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually.
• Maintain a good positive relationship with the customer and pass on information to the appropriate personnel for follow up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
• Train and manage subordinates in job level requirements.
• Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Any vocational training is strongly desired.
• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working as a manager, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Duties

• Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, equipment, cabling, and/or wiring.
• Frequent ladder climbing and checking, pulling wire, etc.
• Walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and raising hands overhead.
