Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Louisiana is seeking a Warehouse Shop Supervisor to plan, organize, and direct shop activities and inventory to meet profit and expense goals.

You will oversee general warehouse operations, receive freight, stock items, perform counts, maintain tools, and train staff, ensuring safety and efficiency. A High School diploma or GED and 2–3 years of managerial experience are required; forklift experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of managerial or supervisor experience in a warehouse setting.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred; vocational training valued.
• Experience with general warehouse operations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, staff, direct and control shop activities to meet profit and expense goals.
• Supervise warehouse operations, receive freight, operate a forklift, and stock the warehouse.
• Perform inventory counts, check in orders, and maintain stock levels and tools.
• Train and manage subordinates, maintain equipment, and ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain relationships with customers and coordinate with internal teams for follow-ups.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling the shop activities and inventory. The express purpose of this position will be to supervise and take part in the shop in such manner to meet the profit and expense goals of Company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• General warehouse operations.
• Receiving freight, operating a forklift, and stocking the warehouse
• Perform all inventory counts and maintain inventory stock levels.
• Check in orders and stock all inventory items.
• Maintain adequate shipping supplies.
• Perform all shipping.
• Keep shop organized and clean.
• Maintain, clean, and organize all shop tools.
• Check specialty tools in and out.
• Maintaining extinguishers and system cylinders in various locations in shop.
• Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually.
• Maintain a good positive relationship with the customer and pass on information to the appropriate personnel for follow up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
• Train and manage subordinates in job level requirements.
• Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification

• High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working as a manager, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Duties

• Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, equipment, cabling, and/or wiring.
• Frequent ladder climbing and checking, pulling wire, etc.
• Walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and raising hands overhead.
