A growing manufacturing organization in the Kansas City area is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead a complex, multi-shift distribution and warehouse operation. This is a critical leadership role for a candidate who thrives on improving processes, driving accountability, developing teams, and solving operational challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is a true player-coach leader who enjoys being on the warehouse floor, coaching supervisors, improving throughput, and driving measurable operational results. This role will be responsible for warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping and receiving, material flow, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting a rapidly growing operation.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Leading all warehouse and distribution activities across a multi-shift operation
- Driving shipping performance, dock utilization, and material flow improvements
- Improving inventory accuracy and warehouse process discipline
- Coaching, developing, and holding supervisors and employees accountable
- Managing receiving, warehousing, inventory control, shipping, and transportation coordination
- Developing KPI scorecards and leading daily operational reviews
- Driving Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partnering with manufacturing, customer service, planning, and transportation teams
- Supporting ERP/WMS utilization and warehouse transaction accuracy
- Building a high-performance culture focused on execution, urgency, and accountability
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required
- 8+ years of warehouse leadership experience within manufacturing, distribution, packaging, consumer products, food & beverage, plastics, or related industries
- Experience managing supervisors and multi-shift operations
- Strong background in inventory control, shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations
- Proven success leading warehouse turnaround, process improvement, or operational excellence initiatives
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, JDE, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Infor, or similar ERP/WMS platforms
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement leadership experience
- Strong performance management, coaching, and accountability skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with daily operational execution
