Logistics Manager

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the movement of products, materials, and other goods to ensure they are in the right place to meet customer demand. This role oversees receiving, production supply, shipping, warehousing, and inventory control to ensure an effective operation that supports current and future business requirements. The Logistics Manager works in partnership with Production, Purchasing, and Planning to ensure products are delivered in full and on time while maintaining lean, organized warehouses and accurate inventory. This role also identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency, optimize inbound and outbound logistics, and support warehouse capacity requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
  • Track and report KPIs including On-Time/In-Full (OTIF) shipment rates and warehouse utilization for capacity planning
  • Attend daily meetings to discuss production and shipping schedules
  • Manage shipping documentation including Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs), pick slips, Bills of Lading (BOLs), and related documentation
  • Manage and maintain the daily electronic shipping dock schedule
  • Process outgoing shipments through the company ERP system and shipping station as required
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal regulations and company policies
  • Assist with Physical Inventory preparation, research count discrepancies, and provide support for month-end closing
  • Manage the Logistics Team with overall responsibility for oversight of physical inventory control
  • Implement Lean inbound transportation concepts in partnership with key suppliers and the Purchasing team
  • Implement Lean outbound transportation concepts
  • Manage major logistics-focused continuous improvement and cost reduction projects as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Standards and respond to corrective actions related to internal and external logistics complaints
  • Develop and deliver process training across all levels of staff
  • Coordinate shipments with designated freight forwarders and logistics providers
  • Send completed shipment documentation and signed BOLs to Finance for processing
Inventory Management
  • Track and report KPIs including cycle count completion and accuracy by location, inventory turns, days of inventory on hand, and SLOB (Slow-Moving/Obsolete) inventory
  • Utilize the Inventory Control team to facilitate Physical Inventory and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Partner with appropriate departments to review and address SLOB inventory with the goal of elimination
  • Foster strong working relationships with external logistics partners to meet business requirements and commercial objectives
  • Manage the movement of products, materials, and other goods to ensure availability to meet customer demand and operational requirements
  • Provide and act on storage and operational capacity outlooks using appropriate modeling tools to anticipate and meet future business requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement to achieve improvements in cost, quality, lead time, and inventory performance
  • Develop, coach, and lead a high-performing team
  • Foster a working environment that promotes personal development and collaboration
  • Coach and guide team members in effective problem-solving and communication techniques
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines

  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and process enhancement
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a strong sense of urgency when resolving multiple complex issues

Education
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience directly managing teams required
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of logistics experience required, preferably within a manufacturing environment
