Job summary

D&H Distributing in Whiteland, IN is seeking an Inventory Specialist to ensure inventory accuracy through reconciliation, research, and root-cause analysis. This on-site role supports operational accountability by identifying and tracking variances.

You will perform detailed variance research, escalate issues to leadership, assist with cycle counts, and develop reports with WMS and Excel. The position requires 3–5+ years in inventory control and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of inventory control or warehouse experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, filtering, and basic data analysis).
  • Experience with WMS and inventory reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate findings and drive accountability with operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed reconciliation of inventory variances across system and physical inventory.
  • Analyze discrepancies and identify root causes, including user-specific errors and process gaps.
  • Escalate and report user-driven variances to operations leadership for accountability and corrective action.
  • Participate in second counts and supervisory counts when initial counts identify discrepancies.
  • Validate and audit inventory transactions to ensure system integrity.
  • Support cycle count program effectiveness through analysis and feedback.
  • Utilize WMS and reporting tools to monitor inventory trends and anomalies.
  • Develop and maintain reports to track variances, adjustments, and recurring issues.
  • Partner with operations to implement corrective actions and improve inventory processes.
  • Ensure adherence to inventory control procedures and audit requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience performing reconciliation and variance analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP, filtering, and basic data analysis
  • Experience working with WMS and inventory reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly and drive accountability with operations teams
  • Experience Operating electric pallet jack, dock stocker, cherry picker preferred
  • Regular business hours with flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as business needs require.
