Job summary

Mead Lumber Company is seeking a Warehouse/Yard Associate in Grand Island, NE. The role focuses on safely loading building materials for customers, supporting daily yard operations, receiving deliveries, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading orders, verifying materials, assisting customers, operating forklifts, and adhering to safety procedures in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to become certified).
• Previous warehouse, yard, or building materials experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret invoices, tickets, and basic order information.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Customer-focused with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated, organized, and dependable.
• Willingness to learn building materials and product knowledge.
• High School diploma or GED required.

• Greet customers, verify orders, and ensure materials are correct before loading.
• Safely load customer vehicles and contractor trucks, ensuring proper handling and securement.
• Receive and unload vendor deliveries; verify materials against purchase orders.
• Organize, label, stock, and maintain inventory in designated locations.
• Identify and pull materials listed on tickets and communicate shortages or issues.
• Process and document returned materials and place in designated areas.
• Operate forklifts and other equipment safely in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, sheds, and work areas.
• Cut lumber and assemble materials as needed for customers or orders.
• Assist customers with product selection and resolve issues professionally.
• Follow all safety procedures and protect company property and equipment.
• Perform duties in all weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:
