Job summary

Mead Lumber Distribution in Rapid City, SD is seeking a yard loader to safely and efficiently load building materials for customers. The role includes receiving deliveries, stocking materials, labeling special orders, and keeping the yard clean. Flexible scheduling is offered, with priority for Saturday and 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. shifts.

Pay ranges from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package and ESOP participation after eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Desire to learn and grow professionally.
• Ability to react quickly to problems and respond to them accurately and professionally.
• Ability to stand/walk for 4–10 hours daily.
• Self-motivated and organized.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Physical strength to lift and carry 50+ pounds at times.
• Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch.

Responsibilities

• Load building materials for customers safely and efficiently.
• Receive and unload vendor deliveries, stock and organize materials.
• Label and track special-order materials.
• Maintain yard cleanliness and organization.
• Work Saturdays and weekday shifts 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. when possible.
• Learn company products, procedures and customer service philosophy.
• Unload/load customer orders accurately per paperwork/invoices.
• Operate equipment safely and follow yard procedures.
• Record returns on credit memos and return to vendor.

Job Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to safely and efficiently load building materials for customers. Additional duties include receiving and unloading vendor deliveries, stocking and organizing materials, labeling and tracking special‑order materials, and maintaining overall yard cleanliness and organization.

We offer flexible scheduling and will work with college students, retired persons, teachers, and others with primary employment. Priority will be given to applicants who are available to work Saturdays and weekday shifts from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Pay for this Role: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
• Unload/Load customer orders accurately in accordance with paperwork/invoices.
• Organize, label, store materials in accordance with protocols.
• Safely operate equipment.
• Follow yard loading and delivery procedures.
• Accurately record all merchandise returns on a credit memo, put materials in designated return area and ensure return to vendor.
• Listen and work with customers to fulfill their daily needs.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Perform duties in ALL types of weather conditions.
• Other tasks as assigned.
