Job summary

All Surfaces Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Counter Sales Specialist and Warehouse Associate to assist showroom customers with orders and purchases while performing standard warehouse duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of combined warehouse, fulfillment, customer service, and sales experience.
• Experience with POS systems and RF scanners; forklift operation is a plus.
• Familiarity with distribution center workflows.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and safely.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist walk-in customers; provide product information and upsell where appropriate.
• Process sales orders and quotes; validate product quantities and descriptions.
• Pack and ship orders; stage for outbound transport and assist loading.
• Receive and unload shipments; verify against packing slips and inspect for damage.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and ERP/WMS adjustments.

Position Overview

The Counter Sales Specialist and Warehouse Associate is a dual-role position responsible for assisting customers in the showroom with order processing and purchases, while also performing regular warehouse duties. This role requires a level of proficiency in customer service, receiving, storing, fulfilling orders, and shipping products within the distribution center.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

Essential Functions

Customer Service

• Greet and assist walk-in customers.
• Provide product information, recommendations, and solutions based on customer needs.
• Direct customers to appropriate products and displays.
• Answer incoming phone calls and respond to customer emails regarding products, pricing, and order information.
• Resolve customer concerns and elevate issues when necessary.
• Upsell and cross-sell products to maximize sales opportunities.
• Support sales representatives, customer care, and other departments as needed.
• Process sales orders and quotes.
• Participate in vendor events and various product trainings/demos.
• Approve e-commerce orders and keep approvals within SLA metrics.

Order Hygiene

• Manage open orders on the portal.
• Follow up with customers regarding their orders and meet order hygiene standards and procedures.
• Pick products according to customer orders by using an RF scanner or pick tickets.
• Verify product quantities and descriptions.

Packing and Shipping

• Safely pack products by properly shrink-wrapping, strapping, and banding pallets for storage and transport.
• Load and unload products onto customer vehicles.
• Stage completed orders for outbound transportation and support with loading products onto vehicles to ensure timely delivery.
• Assist with waste management by baling scraps and staging finished bales for pickup, as required by the branch.

Receiving

• Unload incoming shipments.
• Verify received quantities against packing slips.
• Inspect products for visible damage.

Inventory Control

• Perform cycle counts and inventory audits.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Process any inventory adjustments in the WMS/ERP.

Safety & Housekeeping

• Follow OSHA and company safety regulations.
• Use proper lifting techniques and material handling procedures.
• Maintain showroom displays, product samples, and merchandising standards.
• Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Degree.

Work Experience

• 2-3 years of combined warehouse, fulfillment, customer service, and sales experience.
• Experience working with Point of Sales systems (POS).
• Familiarity with working in a distribution center.
• Experience with cycle counting and inventory control.
• Experience working with RF scanners.
• Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks.

Physical Demand and Work Environment

• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills and reading comprehension skills.
• Ability to manage, reconcile and balance a cash drawer daily.
• Frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, and reaching.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver equipment.
• Able to obtain a forklift certification.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repeatedly and independently, and heavier items with assistance.
• Able to wear work boots, safety-toed shoes, hi-vis vest, and meet the standard of the company’s workplace safety.
• Must be comfortable working in a warehouse environment and operating powered industrial equipment.
