Job summary

Treasure House, a program of The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission Ministries Inc, is hiring a full-time Warehouse Associate & Assistant Driver in Fort Wayne, IN. Starting wage is $17 per hour, with a schedule of Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

You will help keep the warehouse organized, safe, and efficient while assisting the driver with donation pickups and customer item deliveries. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and at least one

• Forklift experience and certification preferred.
• Box truck driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly warehouse by baling clothes, managing trash, loading and unloading trucks, and supporting the donation area as needed.
• Clean, price, and display furniture on the sales floor.
• Assist the primary driver with donation pickups, deliveries of customer purchased items, and transporting recycled materials to salvage locations.
• Address customer inquiries regarding furniture and assist with sales.

Position Description

The Warehouse Associate & Assistant Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the Treasure House warehouse is organized, efficient, and safe. Occasionally, the Warehouse Associate & Assistant Driver will be a frontline representative of The Rescue Mission assisting the driver with donation pickups, deliveries of customer purchased items, and transporting recycled materials to salvage locations. The Warehouse Associate & Assistant Driver should have the heart of a servant in accordance with Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly warehouse by baling clothes, managing trash, loading and unloading trucks, and supporting the donation area as needed.
• Clean, price, and display furniture on the sales floor.
• Address customer inquiries regarding furniture and assist with sales.
• Assist the primary driver, as needed, by picking up and unloading scheduled donations, delivering customer purchased items, and transporting recycled materials to salvage locations.

Other Duties

• Attend quarterly All Staff meetings.

Education Training and Experience

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• 1 year experience as a driver.
• Box Truck Driving experience preferred, CDL not required.
• Forklift experience and certification, preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
• Basic computer skills with knowledge of internet and email.
• Ability to work with individuals of various socio-economic, ethnic, and racial populations.
• Ability to comply with personal and business requirements and expectations as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
• Knowledge of truck operating system in order to identify problem areas and assist with preventative maintenance of vehicles.
