POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for picking (order selection), packing parcels and pallets, and preparing outbound shipments via UPS and a range of LTL (less-than-truckload) carriers. The Warehouse Associate will work across multiple systems throughout the shift — including Business Central and Project Pulse (our custom workflow system) — to process orders and must be able to accurately prepare Bills of Lading (BOL) for all LTL freight shipments. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, being comfortable in learning and switching between several software systems, and a commitment to accuracy and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pick / Order Selection
- Accurately select items from inventory to fulfill customer and internal orders, using pick lists generated in Business Central and Project Pulse.
Packing
- Pack orders into parcels or onto pallets according to product handling standards, ensuring proper protective packaging, weight distribution, and labeling for both small-parcel and freight shipments.
Shipping
- Prepare and process outbound shipments via UPS for parcel orders and coordinate with LTL carriers for palletized freight, selecting the appropriate carrier and service level for each shipment.
Bill of Lading (BOL) Creation
- Accurately complete and generate BOLs for all LTL shipments, including freight class, weight, dimensions, and carrier-specific requirements, ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant.
Multi-System Data Entry
- Record picks, confirm packing, and process shipment transactions across Business Central and Project Pulse, as well as UPS shipping software and LTL carrier portals, keeping inventory and order records accurate and up to date.
- Schedule LTL pickups, print shipping labels and freight documentation, and communicate with carriers to resolve pickup or delivery issues as needed.
Quality & Accuracy
- Verify order accuracy and packaging condition prior to dispatch; inspect for damage and report discrepancies to a supervisor.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pick/pack/ship area; follow all safety procedures for material handling equipment.
General
- Other duties as assigned by warehouse leadership.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 12+ months of warehouse, order fulfillment, or shipping/receiving experience preferred.
- Ability to learn and confidently navigate multiple software systems, including Business Central, Project Pulse, UPS shipping software, and LTL carrier portals.
- Working knowledge of how to prepare a Bill of Lading and general familiarity with LTL freight shipping preferred; willingness to learn required.
- Basic math, reading, and computer literacy skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in order picking, packing, and documentation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP/WMS system preferred.
- Prior experience creating BOLs and coordinating with LTL freight carriers preferred.
- Powered industrial truck (forklift and/or reach truck) certification preferred.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods throughout a shift.
- Ability to safely operate manual and/or powered material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks; forklift if certified).
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Ability to climb ladders or use step stools to access shelving as needed.
