Job summary

TW Metals LLC is a leading global specialty metals distributor seeking an Operations employee for our Carol Stream warehouse. You will handle material staging, packing, receiving, and shipping, while pulling stock to fulfill orders and verifying specifications in our ERP system.

Role includes operating cutting machines and powered equipment, following safety standards, keeping an organized work area, and supporting overall operations to maintain efficient workflows.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 months related experience or training required.
  • Ability to learn and safely operate powered industrial equipment and cutting equipment.
  • Proficient in reading tape measures, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
  • Basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) with whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to learn and navigate an ERP system.
  • Follow detailed written and verbal instructions with logical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Material Handling & Staging: Safely prepare, stage, and organize materials for distribution, including deburring, packing, receiving, and shipping.
  • Order Fulfillment: Pull materials from stock and accurately fill sales orders.
  • Verification & Documentation: Confirm material specifications, quality, quantity, dimensions, and tolerances; record information in ERP system or job tickets.
  • Machine Operation: Operate cutting equipment such as Chop Saw, Band Saw, Plate Saw, Shear Machine, Waterjet, and Laser Machine to process materials per work orders.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate powered industrial equipment (forklift, side loader, Combilift, overhead crane and order pickers) to move and stage materials.
  • Quality & Safety: Follow all safety protocols and maintain quality standards during material handling and machine operation. Maintains a clean and well organized work area.
  • General Operations Support: Assist with department clean-up, routine equipment checks, and other tasks to ensure smooth workflow.

General Position Description

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, and kneel as required throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift and move up to 100 lbs with assistance while following all safety guidance.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Work in a warehouse setting with moving equipment, varying temperatures, dust, and noise.
  • PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe shoes are required on a continuous basis, or as defined by the role needs or safety guidelines.
