Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. Milwaukie, OR is seeking a hands-on Blast Operator to run walk-in sandblast and shotblast equipment. You will prepare surfaces, load castings, and inspect finished parts to ensure quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include operating cabinets, maintaining equipment, following safety rules, and supporting maintenance tasks. The role requires good manual dexterity, the ability to read process instructions, and adherence to Plant safety

Qualifications

• Cleaning and blasting skills as demonstrated by the competent performance of all Sandblaster and Shotblaster duties are preferred OR An equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to follow instructions and read Technique Cards or routers.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations. (addition, subtraction)
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Verify lot, part identification and operation number.
• Load castings into walk-in cabinet manually or with hoist.
• Mask tooling points as needed.
• Sand or shot blasts parts in cabinet by directing hand-held nozzles; moves nozzle across surface or parts; avoids taking off too much metal by not directing sand or shot at one area too long.
• Removes all sand or shot out of part cavities to assure clean parts for chemical milling or subsequent operations.
• Visually inspects blasted parts to verify removal of materials and uniform color of parts.
• Removes castings from walk-in cabinet and places on pallets.
• Modifies shotblast pipe as necessary.
• Manually pushes sand into grate to circulate.
