Job summary

Zippy’s in Hawaii seeks a friendly WAIT HELP to join our store team. This non-exempt role focuses on courteous guest service throughout the dining experience, greeting guests, taking orders, inputting them into the POS, and processing payments accurately.

You will serve food, refill drinks, bus tables promptly, describe menu items and promotions, and maintain a clean, safe dining area. Prior cash handling and 1 year as a host or server are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a host or server preferred.
• Previous cash handling preferred.

Responsibilities

Overview

Responsibilities

Wait Help are responsible for reporting to store management and making sure all guests are well taken care of. The wait help position provides courteous and efficient guest service throughout the duration of the guest’s dining experience in the restaurant.

Job Functions

• Effectively handles assigned section by greeting guests, taking orders promptly, accurately inputting orders into the POS, processes guest checks and payments properly.
• Efficiently serves food to guest, refills drinks for guests, and busses tables promptly after guests leave.
• Is knowledgeable and can describe menu items, ongoing promotions and special menu items proficiently. Answers guest inquiries in a purposeful manner.
• Maintains a constant flow of communication with kitchen staff and informs guests of their order status.
• Prepare and serve beverages and desserts.
• Maintains a safe and sanitary work and guest area through constant cleaning, organizing, and replenishing of necessary items.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Activity

• Regularly push, pull, and carry objects.
• Stand and walk on foot at least 6‑8 hours.
• Reach at shoulder level and below waist constantly, above head occasionally.
• Bending downward or forward at waist or knees occasionally.
• Talk and listen to communicate instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force.

Visual Requirements

• Able to visualize accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

• Passed a tuberculosis (TB) skin test within 12 months of the date of hire OR Dated/Issued at the age of 16 or older.
• Pass a drug screening test.

Environmental Conditions

• Works in an air‑conditioned environment.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• Previous cash handling preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a host or server preferred.
