Job summary

Acloché LLC in San Diego seeks an Associate Attorney to join wage and hour litigation defense. You will handle California wage-hour disputes, including class, collective, and representative actions, with significant ownership of matters.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of litigation experience, strong knowledge of California labor codes, PAGA, and the FLSA, and demonstrate skills in discovery, motions, and writing.

Qualifications

• Active membership in the California Bar.
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably with wage and hour defense experience.
• Working knowledge of the California Labor Code, PAGA, and the FLSA.
• Demonstrated experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and substantive writing.
• Strong analytical judgment and practical litigation strategy.

Responsibilities

• Develop litigation strategy and drive matters from early assessment through resolution.
• Take and defend depositions and manage significant written discovery.
• Research, draft, and argue motions, including dispositive and class-related motions.
• Prepare pleadings, briefs, and other key litigation documents.
• Evaluate and develop strategy for representative actions under PAGA.
• Analyze wage and hour issues including employee classification, regular-rate calculations, meal/rest periods, wage statements, and waiting-time penalties.
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues across the labor and employment practice.
