Job summary

The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is seeking an Agency Instructor to deliver CDL and heavy equipment training in Mesquite, TX. You will teach in classroom and field settings, provide technical assistance, and help maintain updated curriculum to meet learner needs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, five years of Class A CDL operation, and experience in adult education. Relocation within 40 miles of Mesquite may be considered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years of verifiable Class A CDL operations including heavy equipment and transportation experience.
• Experience on two or more of: Aerial Work Platforms, Backhoe, Bulldozer, Dump Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Front End Loader, Maintainer, Skid Steer.
• One year of adult education and/or training.
• Equivalency: Associate’s Degree with 3 years related experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 1 year related experience; all include one year of adult education.
• Valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver License held for at least five years.

The Role at a Glance

Join a high-impact team dedicated to workforce development and transportation safety across Texas. Under the direction of the Transportation & Heavy Equipment Training Manager, the Agency Instructor - CDL/Heavy Equipment plays a vital role in delivering training within the CDL, heavy equipment and transportation highway safety programs. This position is responsible for conducting both classroom and field instruction, providing technical assistance, and utilizing various media to present course materials. The instructor will also assist in updating and modifying curriculum content as needed to meet learner’s needs. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with a passion for adult education and technical training. Qualifications of the Role

High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Five years of verifiable operations of a Class A commercial vehicle to include four years of heavy equipment and transportation operations to include experience on two or more of the following:

• Aerial Work Platforms
• Backhoe
• Bulldozer
• Dump Truck
• Excavator
• Forklift
• Front End Loader
• Maintainer
• Skid Steer

One year of adult education and/or training.

Must have a Valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver License that has been held for a minimum of five years.

Equivalency: Will consider an Associate’s Degree in applicable field field with three years of related experience (Listed Above) or a Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field with one year of related experience (Listed Above). All experience must include one year of adult education and/or training.
