Job summary

Semtech in Rowland, CA is seeking a Wafer Fab Process Technician to lead volume production on InP BH DFB lasers and BH GC devices within a III‑V cleanroom. You will operate metallization equipment, manage metal stacks, and own etch steps to maintain high yield and throughput.

You will mentor junior technicians, perform root‑cause investigations, and drive process control and POR documentation to ensure consistent, reliable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 5–10 years in semiconductor/photonics wafer processing with direct III-V/InP experience.
• Hands-on experience operating e-beam evaporation or sputter deposition systems.
• Experience with dry etch and wet etch on III-V materials and dielectrics.

Responsibilities

• Operate metallization module to keep BH wafer lots moving on schedule.
• Deposit metal stacks (Ti/Pt/Au and Au-based) with controlled thickness and uniformity.
• Perform lift-off, metal etch, resist strip and annealing for ohmic contacts.
• Run ICP/RIE and plasma descum for contact windows and residue removal.
• Perform wet etch steps including BOE oxide removal and surface clean.
• Troubleshoot metallization and etch tools to minimize downtime and protect throughput.
