Job summary

Semtech in Rowland, CA seeks a Wafer Fab Process Technician to run volume production for InP BH DFB lasers and BH Gain Chips. You will operate PECVD, dry etch, and wet bench tools, ensure process stability, and drive yield across photonic device lines in a cleanroom environment.

You’ll lead root-cause investigations, own SPC charts, maintain recipes, and train junior technicians, while meeting daily throughput targets and POR discipline.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 5–10 years in semiconductor/photonics wafer processing with III-V/InP exposure.
• Hands-on PECVD and plasma dry etch (ICP/RIE) experience in high-volume production.
• Wet etch/wet bench experience on III-V materials preferred.
• Knowledge of PECVD (SiO2/SiNx), etch, and inline fab steps.
• Able to mentor and train junior staff in cleanroom operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate PECVD, dry etch, and wet bench to keep BH DFB laser and BH GC production moving.
• Monitor film thickness, refractive index, and etch depth; ensure specification adherence.
• Troubleshoot PECVD/dry/wet process issues to minimize downtime.
• Lead root-cause investigations for process excursions and drift.
• Own SPC control charts for PECVD thickness, stress, and etch metrics.
• Maintain recipes and POR docs; verify stability after changes.
• Support DOE, qualifications, and training for operators.
