Job summary

Summit Public Schools is seeking an Art Teacher for SY26-27 in Seattle, WA. The role emphasizes deep learning and project-based practice within Summit’s advisory model, mentoring the same group of students over multiple years.

You will teach during Project Time, analyze student progress data, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration across the network.

Qualifications

• Commitment to uphold Summit’s values and to ensure all students receive a rigorous, equitable education.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).
• Teaching Credential in Washington or another US state.
• Bachelor’s Degree; master's preferred.
• Clear health and background check.
• Teaching experience in your subject is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• See sample teacher schedules and manage 8:00–5:00 workday expectations.
• Teach project time with 90-minute blocks in high school or four 55-minute blocks in middle school.
• Mentor a small group of students daily and support their development.
• Facilitate Self-Directed Learning time and literacy/math interventions.
• Participate in twice-weekly all-faculty meetings for collaboration and PD.
