We are seeking a strategic, hands‑on threat response executive to lead the next stage of Adlumin’s security operations, threat research, and AI‑enabled response capabilities. As VP, Threat Response, this leader will be responsible for shaping and executing a modern threat response strategy that strengthens customer outcomes, improves operational scale, advances detection and response quality, and helps Adlumin continue to deliver differentiated managed detection and response capabilities.

This role owns the Threat Response function for the Adlumin Business Unit, including 24x7 SOC operations, threat research, data science‑driven detection, AI adoption within SOC workflows, SOC technical architecture, and SOC program management. The VP will oversee the Senior Director of SOC Operations, who runs the day‑to‑day operations of Adlumin’s 90+ person 24x7 SOC; the Director of Threat Research, who leads Threat Detection, Data Science, and public‑facing threat research; the SOC Technical Architect; and SOC program management. The role reports to the General Manager of Adlumin.

What You’ll Do
  • Define and lead Adlumin’s threat response strategy, roadmap, governance model, and operating rhythm aligned to customer outcomes, business priorities, operational scale, and measurable improvements in detection and response quality.
  • Oversee Adlumin’s 90+ person, 24x7 SOC operations through the Senior Director of SOC Operations, ensuring consistent execution across monitoring, triage, investigation, response, escalation, quality assurance, workforce management, and customer‑facing security outcomes.
  • Lead the Threat Research function through the Director of Threat Research, including data science‑driven threat detection, detection engineering, threat hunting, emerging threat analysis, and public‑facing threat research that strengthens Adlumin’s market credibility and customer value.
  • Drive the creation, adoption, and operationalization of AI across SOC operations, using AI‑assisted investigation, automation, workflow optimization, decision support, and analyst productivity improvements to improve quality, speed, consistency, and scale.
  • Oversee the SOC Technical Architect and ensure SOC tooling, platforms, workflows, integrations, data pipelines, automation, and technical architecture support Adlumin’s long‑term managed detection and response strategy.
  • Own SOC program management, including transformation planning, roadmap execution, operating metrics, governance routines, cross‑functional dependencies, executive reporting, and disciplined follow‑through on strategic initiatives.
  • Establish clear KPIs and operating mechanisms for SOC quality, responsiveness, detection efficacy, analyst productivity, escalation health, case quality, customer experience, and cost‑to‑serve.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Support, Sales, Marketing, and the broader Adlumin leadership team to translate threat intelligence, customer needs, operational insights, and market requirements into improved capabilities and outcomes.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high‑performing threat response organization with clear ownership, accountability, talent development, succession planning, and strong collaboration across SOC operations, threat research, technical architecture, and program management.
  • Model a culture of urgency, technical excellence, operational rigor, customer obsession, continuous improvement, and responsible innovation in the use of AI and automation.
What You’ll Bring
  • 12–15+ years of progressive cybersecurity, security operations, threat detection and response, incident response, threat intelligence, detection engineering, data science, or related leadership experience, including significant experience leading scaled operational and technical security teams.
  • Prior experience as a VP Threat Response, Head of SOC, Head of Detection and Response, Head of Threat Research, VP Security Operations, MDR leader, or equivalent senior security leader, ideally in a cybersecurity, SaaS, managed security services, cloud, or product‑led technology company.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or transforming a 24x7 SOC or mission‑critical threat response organization, including operational execution, quality management, workforce scale, customer escalation management, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of modern detection and response practices, including MDR, SIEM, EDR/XDR, threat hunting, detection engineering, threat intelligence, case management, SOC automation, security analytics, and incident response.
  • Experience applying AI, machine learning, data science, analytics, or automation to improve security operations outcomes, reduce repetitive analyst work, improve detection fidelity, and increase response speed and consistency.
  • Proven ability to lead leaders across operations, research, architecture, program management, and technical security disciplines, with a track record of building accountable, high‑performing teams.
  • Strong business judgment and customer orientation, with the ability to balance threat response quality, operational efficiency, analyst experience, customer commitments, product direction, and commercial priorities.
  • Ability to communicate operational performance, threat trends, risk, trade‑offs, transformation progress, and investment priorities to executive leadership, customers, partners, and cross‑functional business leaders.
  • Ability to stay current on evolving threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures, AI‑enabled threats, modern defensive practices, and emerging technologies that can improve managed detection and response.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or equivalent experience preferred.
