Job summary

State Street seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive a multi-year modernization and cloud-migration program for middle-office applications to AWS. You will own delivery quality, set standards for microservices, and lead the AI-augmented delivery model across discovery, code conversion, testing and deployment.

You will build and mentor a permanent cloud-native team, manage vendor capacity, and ensure governance, controls and security align with regulatory requirements while delivering

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading large teams on modernization or cloud migration programmes.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java/Spring Boot, microservices, REST and messaging (Kafka/IBM MQ) and AWS (ECS/EKS).
• Proven experience using AI coding assistants and agents in delivery with measurable results.
• Experience migrating legacy stacks (e.g. COBOL, C/C++, PowerBuilder, Sybase) to modern platforms including Oracle.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD and DevSecOps (Harness or similar), secrets management (Vault/CyberArk) and observability.
• Experience delivering in regulated financial services with change/control requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization engineering team rebuilding middle-office apps as cloud-native services on AWS.
• Set engineering standards for microservices, event-driven integration (Kafka/MQ), containerization (ECS/EKS) and Oracle data design.
• Own technical delivery plans, estimates and release quality, coordinating Architecture, Platform, Data, QE and support teams.
• Lead the engineering side of cutover, parallel runs and handover to run teams.
• Design and run the programme's AI-augmented SDLC: AI-assisted reverse engineering, code conversion, test generation and documentation.
• Build reusable AI agent workflows, knowledge graphs and context for engineering agents.
