Job summary

Ares is seeking an accomplished Vice President, Financial & Business Management Lead (Technology) to direct budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for its Technology organization. This senior role requires deep financial acumen, ability to explain drivers, and collaboration with Technology and Finance leaders to align investments with strategy.

The position focuses on governance, cost management, executive reporting, and strategic decision support, reporting to the COO, Technology.

Qualifications

• 15–20 years of relevant experience in financial management, FP&A, or technology finance.
• Deep financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
• Experience partnering with senior technology and finance leaders in a matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial planning for the Technology organization.
• Develop understanding of the Technology cost base and its drivers (compensation, consultants, software, infra, cloud, services).
• Own actuals vs. budget/forecast analyses; explain variances and surface risks/opportunities.
• Develop monthly/quarterly forecasts incorporating performance, workforce changes, vendor activity, and priorities.
• Partner with Finance on close activities, including accruals, reclasses, allocations, capitalization, expense recognition; oversee CapEx/OpEx.
• Build financial models, run rate analyses, scenarios, and business cases for investments and resource decisions.
• Own executive financial reporting and management reviews with clear insights and actions.
• Provide financial oversight of Technology vendor spend and contracts; ensure governance and compliance.
• Lead preparation of executive materials and decision-oriented analyses for Technology leadership.
