Ares Management seeks a Vice President (Controller) to lead the Investment Accounting team in New York. This senior role partners with Investment Professionals, Portfolio Management, and FP&A to oversee accounting, reporting, and analytics across the platform.

The VP will shape policies, controls, and tech roadmaps, drive cross-functional initiatives, and develop a high-performing team to support a growing global alternatives platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in investment accounting, fund accounting, or related financial services discipline; alternatives experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of alternative investments and transaction structures, especially private credit.
• Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, manage priorities, and drive high-quality execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead the New York Investment Accounting team, setting priorities and building a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Partner with IA leadership and colleagues across NY, London, and Mumbai to drive a global operating model.
• Be a senior accounting partner on complex investments, reviewing terms and revenue recognition under Ares policies.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables and provide analysis to Investor Relations and senior leadership.
• Lead technology and transformation initiatives, automate workflows, and design scalable controls.
