Job summary

Generate Capital seeks a VP, Sourcing & Procurement to build and lead a proactive procurement function for power-generation equipment, including new and used prime movers, engines, gas turbines, and fuel cells. The role will develop an approved vendor base and negotiate directly with OEMs and packagers.

You will drive equipment options assessments, supplier qualification, and end-to-end deal execution while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of experience in power generation, storage, or infrastructure engineering, procurement, or sourcing.
• Entrepreneurial, less-structured settings; comfortable negotiating directly with manufacturers, packagers, and financial intermediaries.
• Direct experience sourcing or procuring capital equipment—power generation equipment preferred—including working with OEMs, packagers, and financial intermediaries.
• Experience in rotating-equipment markets—reciprocating engines, gas turbines, fuel cells—with new, refurbished, and used equipment channels.
• Technical grounding to judge equipment: ratings, duty cycle, emissions, permitting, after­market parts, serviceability, remaining life.
• Familiarity with EPC delivery models and owner-furnished equipment arrangements.
• Experience building procurement/sourcing function from limited infrastructure; policies, controls, systems.
• Willing to visit manufacturer floors and negotiate in person; manage deals end-to-end.
• Ability to balance innovation with standardization and execution discipline.
• Clear communicator translating technical concepts into actionable business insights.

Responsibilities

• Build a proactive, direct-sourcing procurement function for power generation equipment (new and used).
• Map and maintain a living view of manufacturers, packagers, and channels; develop an approved vendor list.
• Evaluate equipment options for technical fit, availability, and commercial risk across solutions.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms directly with manufacturers; travel to floors as needed.
• Support project delivery from Notice to Proceed through Commercial Operation; warranty and supplier performance.
• Formalize procurement processes, policies, and controls for the function.
