Job summary

Sompo is seeking a Vice President, South-Central Regional Underwriting Manager for the Commercial Management Liability team, based in Houston, TX. You will lead the South Central underwriters, set budgets, and grow broker relationships across Texas and nearby states.

The role requires a seasoned professional lines underwriter with strong negotiation and analytical skills, plus willingness to travel monthly to Dallas when based in Houston.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of professional lines underwriting experience.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly, including monthly travel to Dallas if based in Houston.

Responsibilities

• Direct management responsibilities for South Central's Commercial Management Liability Team and acting as the single over-authority for underwriters.
• Underwriting of Private and Public Company Directors and Officers Insurance, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime.
• Evaluate risk characteristics to determine capacity, attachment points, terms and pricing.
• Set, track and report monthly budgets with Zonal oversight.
• Maintain and enhance broker relationships and develop new relationships within the South-Central region (TX, OK, LA, NM, AR).
• Develop and execute marketing plans to retain and win new business within Sompo's risk appetite.
• Participate in account discussions with discretion and independent judgment in risk analysis.
• Interact, communicate, and negotiate with internal and external partners.
