Job summary

Success Academy Charter Schools is seeking a Vice President of School Operations to lead strategy, operating model, and performance for ~60 schools and ~300 operations staff. This role requires a rare mix of strategic thinking and hands-on leadership to elevate the ROM team, reduce variation, and build scalable systems across the network.

This school-based leader spends ~60% of time in campuses observing operations, coaching leaders, and diagnosing performance with regular travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations or related multi-site environments.
• 7+ years in multi-site operations, performance management, and risk.
• Experience leading organizational redesign—restructuring roles, reporting lines, and management systems.
• Proven track record building new teams from the ground up and scaling them.
• Demonstrated use of AI/technology to simplify operations and drive adoption.
• Expertise in lean methodologies and data-informed decision-making.
• Proven ability to influence executive leadership and drive cross-functional execution.
• Exceptional people leadership, talent assessment, and succession planning.
• Strong business and financial acumen with effective communication.
• Willingness to spend ~60% of time in schools across the network.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and hold accountable the Regional Operations Managers team, defining expectations and performance metrics.
• Coach leaders to diagnose performance, develop talent, and deliver sustained results across portfolios.
• Differentiate coaching approaches based on readiness and risk; manage talent decisions with clarity.
• Build succession plans and an internal pipeline for regional leadership.
• Design and continuously improve the School Operations operating model and support structures.
• Advise executives on operational implications of enterprise priorities and identify acceleration or risk areas.
• Lead change from diagnosis through implementation and measurement, managing resistance.
• Drive efficiency with AI and automation to reduce administrative burden on school staff.
• Ensure cross-functional initiatives reflect school realities and scale effectively.
