Job summary

ExED, a nonprofit serving charter schools in Southern California, seeks a Vice President of School Finance to act as CFO for five to eight schools. The role leads an accounting team and drives budgeting, forecasting and financial strategy, ensuring strong internal controls and adherence to public funding requirements.

The VP will interact with school boards and leaders to present financials, develop budgets, and optimize financial operations in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
• Ability to translate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Interest in ExED’s mission to expand access to high-quality public schools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Develop budgets and forecasts to inform charter school decisions.
• Develop financial strategies aligned with school goals and operations.
• Oversee accounting team to produce accurate reports and forecasts.
• Present monthly financials to the charter school board and leaders.
• Develop knowledge of charter school finance, revenue generation, and public funding requirements.
• Create financial operation procedures with strong internal controls.
• Serve as liaison between charter schools and public agencies as ExED's finance ambassador.
• Oversee annual audits and implement auditor recommendations.
