Job description

A leading global alternative asset manager seeks Vice President, Relationship Manager of the Japan Focus Team in New York to cover institutional investors in Japan. The RM will be responsible for sales of the firm’s various asset classes, including credit (direct lending, liquid and structured credit), private equity, infrastructure and real estate.

• Primary responsibilities include:
  · Cultivate and manage business relationships with the investor community and intermediaries. Focus on new business generation activities to increase penetration across channels.
  · Actively participates in sales planning and helps drive marketing strategy execution. Research and define competitive market requirements and opportunities, develop and execute on strategic plans for his/her target market.
  · Builds and maintains long term rewarding relationships with existing clients.
  · Works with Product Management and Investor Relations team to generate customized materials for investors.
  · Keeps abreast of industry trends and Ares product development and performance to provide market information updates and trend analysis to clients and colleagues.
  · Respond to investor inquiries and data requests
  · Tracks client contacts and meetings with investors and potential investors through the CRM system, Salesforce.
  · Provides additional leverage as needed to lead marketer in the region ·
  

Requirements

• BA Finance or Business Degree preferred
  
• Language: Fluency in Japanese and English
  
• Network of professional contacts in the institutional investment community and a track record of navigating in the various institutional channels. Experience covering asset managers and trust banks preferred.
  
• 5-7 years of marketing / sales experience preferably with buy side shops - ideally with exposure to various alternative asset classes including, private equity, infrastructure and real estate.
  
• Previous role in sales for Asset Management Firm / Alternative Investments preferable.
