Job summary

Independence is seeking an experienced executive to lead the organization’s portfolio and project management functions. The role oversees a multi-year project investment portfolio, prioritization, and resource allocation to deliver strategic, financial, and operational goals.

The role drives governance, value realization, and reporting, partnering with cross-functional leaders to shape investments and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of solutions across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field).
• Master’s degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MHA, or related advanced degree).
• Proven track record establishing and leading portfolio governance, including intake, prioritization, funding decisions, and benefit/value realization.
• Experience managing a large, complex portfolio with OpEx and CapEx planning, tracking, and optimization.
• Knowledge of project and program management methodologies (PMI, Agile, hybrid).
• Strong financial acumen with business case development, NPV/ROI, and value tracking.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multi-year project investment portfolio evaluation, prioritization, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
• Govern portfolio governance and end-to-end lifecycle of project investments across the enterprise.
• Identify emerging capabilities with enterprise capability teams to drive future growth.
• Translate strategic imperatives into actionable, time-bound plans.
• Manage corporate portfolio to meet goals on scope, schedule, and cost; track OpEx/CapEx with Finance.
• Lead Portfolio and PMO functions to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
• Develop and enhance portfolio reporting for milestone progress, risks, and value realization.
• Establish standards, processes, and tools for portfolio, program, and project management.
• Shape investment decisions with executive leadership and define sequencing of initiatives.
• Coach and mentor portfolio, program, and project management talent.
• Keep updated with industry standards and best-practice methodologies.
