Job summary

Banc of California is seeking a Credit Analyst to deliver financial, credit, and trend analysis for the delivery of the bank’s credit products and services to middle-market and other business clients. The role involves monitoring credit relationships, analyzing financial statements, and underwriting loans with independent judgment.

You will prepare comprehensive credit packages, build financial models, assess collateral, and collaborate with Relationship Managers and Loan Administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field.
• Proficient in Financial Accounting.
• Work related experience should consist of a good to strong understanding of lending, specifically, cash flow and collateral analysis and loan structuring.
• Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position.
• Working knowledge of the Bank’s Loan Policies and Standards.
• Strong skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; IBS and Ncino are a plus.
• Advanced math skills; calculate interest and percentages; balance accounts; compute rate, ratio and percent.

Responsibilities

• Independently evaluates and structures lower complexity credit requests, including cash flow lending, asset-based lending, term loans, and CRE loans.
• Performs independent credit analysis and risk assessment of existing credit requests, including analysis of financial statements and third-party reports.
• Prepare comprehensive credit packages and presentation for review by a credit administrator and transactional credit commitment, detailing the financial analysis, risk assessment, and recommendation for loan structure.
• Prepare detailed financial models to forecast future cash flows and stress-test the borrower’s ability to service debt under various economic scenarios.
• Analyze key financial metrics such as EBITDA, leverage ratios, Fixed Charge Coverage ratios, and working capital cycles.
• Analyze the quality of the collateral, lien position, and personal guarantees from owners or sponsors.
• Work with Relationship Manager to review loan documents prepared by outside firms or in-house counsel.
• Coordinate with Loan Administration to obtain due diligence and monitor covenant compliance and ticklers.
• Review LOIs and ensure consistency with loan documents and CAM.
• May require some travel for on-site client calls to build bank-client relationships.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and complete bank training on time.
• Has intermediate knowledge of appraisals, borrowing base reports, and collateral exams.
• Complete Problem Loan Status Reports with guidance from manager.
• Provide ongoing monitoring of borrower’s financial health and risk rating.
• Involved with interviewing and hiring decisions; prepare performance evaluations and coaching.
• Manage, support, coach and train employees.
