Our client is a high-growth energy infrastructure business, seeking a remote VP, Transmission & Analytics to support its continued expansion across the United States.
Their work sits at the intersection of infrastructure development, energy, construction, finance, and operations. Spanning generation, storage, transmission, and the digital and power infrastructure needed to serve hyperscalers, cloud providers, utilities, industrial users, and other large consumers of power and energy.
The VP of Transmission & Analytics will own transmission and market analysis strategy,
overseeing interconnection processes, grid modeling, and energy market analysis. The role
encompasses transmission planning discipline, regulatory and grid operator engagement,
and the analytics rigor required to move projects through interconnection queues and
optimize grid integration across the portfolio. Working across development, engineering,
and operations teams, the VP will establish where and how the projects connect to the
grid, what transmission constraints shape project economics, and how market
fundamentals and interconnection timelines influence portfolio sequencing and value
creation.
The position offers direct access to leadership, significant influence over project feasibility
& interconnection strategy, and the opportunity to build transmission and analytics
capabilities that will define how the company approaches grid connectivity and market
participation as the company grows.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute transmission strategy across the portfolio, identifying interconnection pathways, transmission constraints, and grid integration opportunities that unlock or enable project development and operational performance.
- Own interconnection processes across multiple ISOs and RTOs, managing queue positions, generator interconnection agreements, and regulatory filings to ensure timely and cost-effective grid connections.
- Lead power flow modeling, transmission studies, and grid analysis to assess project feasibility, optimize interconnection approaches, and advise on transmission-related capital requirements and risk.
- Translate regulatory requirements, grid operator constraints, and market fundamentals into project-level transmission strategies that align technical, commercial, schedule, and financing objectives.
- Collaborate across development, engineering, operations, and commercial to resolve interconnection constraints, manage transmission timelines, and incorporate grid requirements into project planning.
- Monitor transmission policy, regulatory developments, ISO/RTO tariff changes, and market trends to anticipate risks and opportunities affecting the portfolio.
- Represent the company with utilities, grid operators, regulatory bodies, interconnection customers, and other transmission-critical stakeholders.
- Build and lead a high-up performing transmission and analytics team, establishing standards, processes, and tools required to scale transmission planning and market analysis as the portfolio grows.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team, advance company priorities, and contribute to the overall success of the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Proven track record managing interconnection processes and conducting transmission studies across multiple independent system operators or regional transmission operators, with demonstrated success advancing projects through interconnection queues.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission planning, interconnection, grid analysis, or related energy infrastructure functions.
- Deep working knowledge of transmission planning, power system analysis, interconnection procedures (GIA process), and the regulatory and tariff frameworks governing ISOs and RTOs.
- Strong technical proficiency with power system analysis tools.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to evaluate project economics, assess transmission risk and cost, and translate grid constraints into business implications.
- Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing technical teams.
- Executive-level communication and negotiation skills, with the credibility to engage utilities, grid operators, regulators, and other sophisticated counterparties.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment requiring sound judgment, pace, adaptability, and accountability.
