Job summary

CFS in Columbus, OH is seeking a strategic, hands-on Vice President of Operations to build and scale a local mechanical contracting and process piping operation. This role emphasizes leadership, business development, and execution across large projects.

You will recruit and develop a high-performing team, own the P&L, drive business development with major clients including semiconductor and industrial facilities, and ensure safe, on-time, within-budget project delivery.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in mechanical contracting and industrial construction.
• Strong background in process piping and high-purity systems.
• Proven track record of leading operations, P&L ownership, and forecasting.
• Experience building and leading teams, including PMs and field staff.
• Familiarity with union labor environments and workforce management.

Responsibilities

• Establish, lead, and scale the Columbus-area operation to support long-term growth.
• Drive business development by nurturing relationships with key customers and contractors.
• Oversee major projects, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality targets are met.
• Own the operation's P&L, revenue growth, profitability, and cost controls.
• Recruit, develop, and retain project managers, field leadership, and skilled trades.
• Manage labor resources, capacity, and staffing strategies within union environments.
• Implement standardized planning, cost controls, scheduling, and performance tracking.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning and market expansion.
