Job summary

Big Watt Digital, LLC is seeking an engineering leader to build and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering organization focused on the power sector. You will set talent strategy, governance, and standards to enable execution across development, procurement, construction, and operations.

You will own the engineering budget, drive KPI tracking, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure safety, reliability, and lifecycle-cost optimization.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• 15+ years in the power industry.
• Process and systems oriented.
• Strong dedication to safety in a power environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and develop the engineering organization, including talent strategy and training.
• Develop technical standards, procedures, and governance for engineering operations.
• Set KPIs for engineering and monitor progress monthly.
• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, I&C, and grid interconnection.
• Develop the engineering budget and allocate resources across the project portfolio.
• Own and develop engineering elements of projects from planning to execution.
• Collaborate with project management, procurement, construction, startup, controls, and ES&H teams.
• Review engineering design documents, specs, and change orders; oversee bid analyses and vendor selections.
• Approve plant configurations, technology choices, and performance guarantees for safety and efficiency.

Job description

• Build and develop the engineering organization, including talent strategy, succession planning, and technical training.
• Develop and implement technical standards and all procedures and processes required to run an efficient engineering operation that can effectively support development. execution, and operations groups.
• Develop KPI for the engineering efforts and team and monitor progress against established KPI on a monthly basis.
• Develop and lead a lean multi-disciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, I&C, grid interconnection) supporting all engineering and technical needs of the Company.
• Develop the engineering budget (people, tools, studies, external advisors) and allocate resources across the project portfolio based on priorities.
• Participate in initial project planning. Own and develop the engineering elements of projects.
• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager/Project Director/Project Executive, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Project Controls, and Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) teams to align engineering deliverables.
• Develop procedures to review engineering design documents, specifications, material requisitions, and technical aspects of change orders. Oversee bid analyses and vendor recommendations for procuring critical equipment and materials.
• Approve plant configurations, technology selection, performance guarantees, and system integration to meet safety, reliability, and efficiency targets.
• Responsible for and approves all critical technical scope documentation.
• Ultimately responsible for technical integration.
• Ultimately responsible for technical interface Management.
• Create an organization where continuous monitoring of engineering progress is achieved.
• Ultimately responsible for thorough Technical Risk Assessments and verification of compliance with safety protocols and the project’s Quality Assurance plan
• Effectively communicate complex technical issues and progress to clients, Project Directors/Executives, and functional managers.
• Ultimately responsible for the oversight of engineering deliverables for permitting, procurement, construction, in coordination with other groups and commissioning, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Drive value engineering, lifecycle cost optimization, and adoption of innovative technologies and digital tools.
• Provide technical governance for OEM and EPC contracts, including technical specifications, design reviews, and acceptance criteria.
• Support negotiation of OEM and EPC contracts along with the EVP of Construction, Development, and Implementation.

• We are looking for a true Engineer with Masters or PhD in Engineering.
• Strong background in engineering with 10+ years managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• 15+ years in power industry.
• Process and systems oriented.
• Strong dedication to safety and diligence within a power environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholders across the business.
