Job summary

BlueCat is seeking a visionary VP, Engineering, Network Observability to lead the engineering organization behind LiveAction. This role owns technical direction, architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of a data-heavy platform for enterprise networks, telcos, and government clients.

You will partner with Product, Customer Care, Sales, Marketing and Customer Success to align engineering execution with customer outcomes, delivering high-performance hardware and cloud-based services.

Qualifications

• MS/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
• 15+ years of experience in a software engineering environment.
• 10+ years managing senior individual contributors and other leads/managers, including leading managers of managers.
• Direct experience building network observability, network performance monitoring, or network/infrastructure management products.
• Strong technical fluency in networking fundamentals and telemetry (TCP/IP, routing/switching, NetFlow/IPFIX, SNMP, packet analysis, WAN/SD-WAN) and key open source technologies – e.g. clickhouse, Prometheus/Grafana, K8s
• Experience in delivering high performance hardware/appliances system for network telemetry/packets.
• Strong experience and detailed technical knowledge in SaaS or PaaS engineering, as well as on-prem enterprise software delivery
• Strong development experience in Java, C++, or similar OO languages
• Experience operating at, or reporting directly to, the C-level
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and multi-year engineering roadmap for network observability products.
• Lead enterprise engineering teams delivering SaaS and on-prem solutions.
• Architect and scale data-intensive platforms with telemetry data.
• Deliver AI capabilities for anomaly detection and MTTR reduction.
• Evolve legacy codebases and manage tech debt.
• Build geographically distributed teams, including offshore.
• Coach and develop top technical talent.
• Establish development standards and best practices.
• Develop strategic plans with PM and executives.
• Engage with enterprise and government accounts to define requirements and resolve escalations.
