Job summary

BlueCat is seeking a VP, Engineering, Network Observability to lead the engineering organization behind LiveAction, BlueCat's Network Observability product line. This leader will own the technical direction, architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of a complex platform providing deep visibility across data centers, WAN, cloud, and edge.

Qualifications

• MS/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
• 15+ years of experience in a software engineering environment.
• 10+ years managing senior individual contributors and other leads/managers, including leading managers of managers.
• Direct experience building network observability, network performance monitoring, or network/infrastructure management products.
• Strong technical fluency in networking fundamentals and telemetry (TCP/IP, routing/switching, NetFlow/IPFIX, SNMP) and key open-source technologies.
• Experience in SaaS or PaaS engineering as well as on-prem enterprise software delivery.
• Strong development experience in Java, C++, or similar OO languages.
• Experience operating at, or reporting directly to, the C-level.

Responsibilities

• Setting the technical direction and multi-year engineering roadmap for a network observability product line.
• Leading engineering teams delivering enterprise infrastructure products (SaaS and on-prem).
• Architecting and scaling data-intensive platforms that ingest, process, and analyze telemetry.
• Delivering AI capabilities for anomaly detection and predictive insights.
• Developing a pragmatic plan to retire tech debt and evolve code bases.
• Building geographically distributed engineering teams and offshore transitions.
• Coaching and mentoring managers and senior technical leaders.
• Establishing development standards, processes, and best practices.
• Developing strategic plans with Product Management and executives.
• Engaging with enterprise and government accounts to resolve escalations.
