Job summary

RTW Investments, LP in New York seeks a Vice President – New Ventures, Asset Selection to identify and evaluate opportunities for company creation and to develop investment theses for drug acquisition targets within therapeutic areas.

The role is full-time, reports to the Managing Director, New Ventures, and requires a biotech/ pharma background, strong research and writing skills, and willingness to travel about 15%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology and strong understanding of biological sciences required.
• Advanced degree (MD/PhD) strongly preferred; life sciences focus.
• 5+ years in biotech/pharma or buy-side research encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Source and maintain a pipeline of NewCos opportunities.
• Conduct proprietary research across science, disease, IP, and regulation.
• Write and pitch investment notes for company ideas.
• Build pitch decks with deal terms and financing.
• Develop therapeutic area expertise for coverage.
• Attend medical, banking and partnering conferences.
• Convert ideas into NewCos with PnL potential.
