Job summary

Schrödinger seeks a Ventures Associate Director - Therapeutics to join our mission of transforming discovery in therapeutics and materials. The role combines deep immunology expertise with venture diligence to source and incubate novel biotech opportunities from ideation through seed financing.

You will evaluate data packages, engage with leaders in academia and industry, and map emerging paradigms to guide portfolio strategy. New York presence and cross-functional collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in Immunology, Autoimmune Disease, Inflammation, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or closely related biomedical discipline with postdoctoral training.
• Experience with venture fellowships or life sciences venture funds/biotech creation studios.

Responsibilities

• Perform rigorous, hypothesis-driven scientific diligence on early-stage immunology mechanisms and related startups.
• Critically evaluate preclinical data packages, mechanism-of-action validity, therapeutic differentiation, target tractability, and IP landscapes.
• Engage with key opinion leaders, academic principal investigators, and clinical experts to validate scientific theses and therapeutic feasibility.
• Track and map emerging paradigms across academic institutions, tech transfer offices, and clinical advancements in immunology and inflammation.
• Source high-quality deal flow by building relationships with founders, venture teams, and incubator ecosystems.
• Partner with our internal therapeutic team, venture partners, and founders to prioritize and incubate new biotech concepts from ideation through seed stage financing.
• Assist in crafting development plans, defining target product profiles, mapping competitive landscapes, and shaping early operational strategy for new co-created ventures.
