Position Overview

We are seeking a VP Marketing - Academic, Publisher, and Government, Funder & Non-Profit Markets (14-month FTC) based in the USA, East Coast. This interim leadership role offers a unique opportunity to guide a strategic marketing segment through a critical period of continuity and growth. As VP Marketing, you will oversee ongoing marketing strategies, lead a cross-functional team, and drive impactful outcomes. Your ability to adapt quickly, maintain momentum, and meet established goals is essential for success during this 14-month fixed-term contract. You will collaborate across departments to align objectives, monitor performance, and facilitate a smooth transition at contract end.

Accountabilities
  1. Execute and sustain the current segment-specific marketing strategy with minimal disruption.
  2. Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams to align strategic goals.
  3. Drive growth and increase market share within academic, publisher, and government sectors through targeted campaigns.
  4. Lead, mentor, and manage a segment-focused marketing team to achieve objectives.
  5. Monitor KPIs, provide insights, and report regularly to leadership.
  6. Ensure a seamless handover at contract conclusion, including documentation and transition planning.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA or higher preferred.
  2. At least 10 years of marketing experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
  3. Deep understanding of academic publishing, research funding ecosystems, and government engagement with scientific content.
  4. Proven ability to execute marketing strategies and manage large initiatives.
  5. Strong collaboration and communication skills across functions.
  6. Proficiency with tools like Salesforce, Pardot, Asana, etc.
  7. Excellent documentation and multitasking skills for high-stakes projects.
