Gen Re Corporation, part of Berkshire Hathaway, seeks a VP, Underwriting Executive - Individual Life to lead and develop a team of experienced life underwriters from Stamford, CT with remote work options. You will deliver exceptional underwriting and client service while advancing underwriting excellence.

The role blends hands-on leadership with strategic guidance, maintaining a small active caseload and building strong client relationships across our facultative business.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in life reinsurance underwriting with complex risk assessment.
• Strong underwriting judgment and track record of decisions.
• Knowledge of mortality, pricing and business objectives.
• Experience leading and mentoring teams; people management preferred.
• Proven ability to maintain client relationships and provide expert guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high performing underwriting team with coaching and feedback.
• Manage performance with regular discussions and appropriate delegation.
• Provide second signature on underwriting decisions and guidance on complex cases.
• Maintain a small active underwriting caseload and stay connected to facultative business.
• Build strong client relationships and understand client business, products and service expectations.
• Monitor trends in facultative activity and identify opportunities to improve client experience.
• Collaborate with leadership, Medical, Actuarial, and other stakeholders to enhance guidelines and workflows.
• Support operations by coordinating resources and providing leadership coverage as needed.
• Represent Gen Re with clients and industry through meetings and conferences.
