Job summary

General Re Corporation, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, seeks an AVP/Senior Underwriting Specialist to join its Individual Disability Income underwriting team. The role is remote-based out of Stamford, CT, with extensive experience in underwriting, client interaction, and industry trend analysis.

The candidate will underwrite facultative DI risks, review medical/occupational/financial data, and support clients while achieving morbidity/profitability goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of individual disability underwriting experience.
• Experience evaluating medical, occupational and financial information to determine underwriting offers.
• Attention to detail and ability to present complex scenarios.
• Strong client-facing skills and ability to influence opportunities.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite facultative Individual Disability Income risks.
• Review risks and determine risk classification.
• Assist clients with risk selection and service needs.
• Provide input on clients, underwriting standards and procedures.
• Collaborate with underwriting management and medical staff.
• Provide quality customer service and support.
